Marsha Qualey is the author of several young adult novels. Her books have appeared on numerous best-of-the-year lists, including ALA Quick Picks and Best Books for Young Adults, IRA Young Adults' Choices, New York Public Library's Books for the Teen Age, and School Library Journal's Best Books of the Year. Her books have won two Minnesota Book Awards, and one, Thin Ice, was nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. Her novels are frequently included on state, school district, and library reader's choice lists. Qualey is also the author of a series of picture books with Picture Window Books, an imprint of Capstone Press, and has edited several books for Picture Window Books. A veteran writing teacher, she has developed and presented a variety of writing workshops for writers of all ages around the country. She is also on the faculty of Hamline University's MFA in Writing for Children program. Marsha Qualey is a native of Austin, Minnesota. After graduating from Austin High she attended Macalester College and the University of Minnesota. She graduated from the University in 1976. While she has lived in many regions of the U.S., she considers the upper Midwest her home base, and it is the setting for all of her novels. She and her husband, Dave Qualey, live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They have four children. |
