Marsha Qualey's first novel was published in 1991, and since then she has published nine novels for young adults and one for adults. Her most recent project is a set of four early readers, The Gracie LaRoo stories, that chronicle the challenges and joys a young pig encounters as the youngest member of a champion synchronized swimming team, the Water Sprites.

Her novels have been selected for many "Best of the Year" lists, including the American Library Association's "Best Books for Young Adults" and the New York Public Library's "Books for the Teen Age." She's won two Minnesota Book Awards for YA fiction, and her novel Thin Ice was a finalist for the Edgar Award. Most of her novels remain available as e-books.

Marsha taught for over a decade at Hamline University (St. Paul, Minnesota) in the MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program. After many happy years of working with grad school writers, she's now retired from teaching in order to focus on her own writing.

She lives in Wisconsin.
